30th Annual Intellectual Property Law Conference, industry pioneer Kim Wales will speak from 1:45 – 3:15 pm on Thursday, March 26 on the topic of “IP Considerations in Raising Capital in the 21st Century.” Her presentation and panel discussion will focus on: Raising capital for inventions has become increasingly transparent and creative in today’s world. Shark Tank has made the word “investor” a household name while Kickstarter, Indigogo and Fundable have turned crowdfunding into an instant customer and market traction indicator. Intellectual property considerations are on the minds of investors and increasingly the prerequisite for capital regardless of the source. The venture capitalist, angel investor, accredited investor and now the non-accredited investor, have become very savvy within the area of intellectual property. This program will explore how each investor type views intellectual property, examine the legal challenges each type presents, and how intellectual property is rectified when capital is at stake.
